Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement chief counsel Raphael Sanchez was sentenced to four years in prison for charges related to wire fraud and an identify theft scheme, according to the Department of Justice.

Sanchez pleaded guilty on Feb. 24 for obtaining, “personally identifiable information of the victim aliens” through ICE’s computer database systems, according to a Department of Justice press release. Sanchez listed three of the aliens as dependents on tax returns between 2014 to 2016 as well. (RELATED: Protestors Blockade ICE Facility — Then Cops In Tactical Gear Showed Up)

On top of attaining private information, he also forged Social Security cards and driver’s licenses, which were later used to open credit card and bank accounts under the names of the aliens. Sanchez opened online financial and email accounts where he made personal purchases and made payments in the aliens’ names, totaling over $190,000.

Sanchez’s role at ICE was immigration removal in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington state.

Along with serving four years in prison, Sanchez is required to pay $190,345.63 in restitution.
