“Fox & Friends First” booked Ann Kirkpatrick, a pro-ICE Democrat running for Congress in Arizona, but Barbara L’Italien, a state senator running for Congress in Massachusetts, appeared on the show without notifying the show before going on air on Monday morning.

“Good morning. I’m actually here to speak directly to Donald Trump,” L’Italien stated as the interview began. “I feel that what’s happening at the border is wrong. I’m a mother of four, and I believe that separating kids from their parents is illegal and inhumane.”

“I’m actually Barbara L’Italien, I’m a state senator representing a large immigrant community. I’m running for Congress in Massachusetts,” she continued.

Fox News hosts Jillian Mele and Rob Schmitt quickly ended the interview after L’Italien finished talking about the president’s immigration policies.

According to the L’Italien campaign, Fox News reached out to them mistakenly and they decided not to pass up the opportunity.

“Fox News is where you go when you want to talk to Donald Trump,” Joe Katz, a spokesman for the L’Italien campaign, told Boston.com.

Desiree Dunn, the executive producer of “Fox & Friends First,” said, “During the actual segment Barbara L’Italien appeared on camera instead of Kirkpatrick. Despite speaking to producers prior to the interview, L’Italien did not identify herself as anything other than Kirkpatrick until she was live on air.”

Kirkpatrick stood up for ICE at a debate earlier this week and has been one of the only Democrats in Congress or running for Congress to actively support the immigration agency. (RELATED: Arizona Democratic Candidate Booed For Supporting ICE)
