The Mid-Atlantic region of the United States is ideal for travelers who enjoy visiting hot-spots from beaches and farms to bustling cities.

Here are three places in the Mid-Atlantic region to check out this summer:

Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Lancaster offers visitors picturesque farmland, a smorgasbord of country buffets, as well as its Amish population with its traditional roots and quality-made products.  Miller’s Smorgasbord is a classics stop — all the food is grown locally, including Amish farms. Visitors can also go on buggy rides where they can tour Amish farms and villages. There were 36,920 people in Lancaster in 2017, according to Amish America. (RELATED: STUDY: Rare Genetic Mutation In Amish Boosts Lifespan)

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia is full of American history, but for those who want more of a nightlife than looking at The Liberty Bell and finding the best steak and cheese, the “Old City” is packed with bars and a lively music scene. For a night out, tourists should definitely try rum bar Cuba Libre and hookah bar Byblos. Visitors should go try out some tasty local restaurants such as The Continental and Sabrina’s Cafe.

Arlington Cemetery, Virginia

Arlington Cemetery is ideal for military history enthusiasts. Visitors come to pay their respects to fallen service members, as well as prominent American politicians like former President John F. Kennedy. Tourists can watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony daily for $12. The cemetery is also close to Washington, D.C., where tourists can visit the United States Capitol and Library of Congress.
