More than 145,000 cartons of almond milk were recalled by a dairy company Thursday because they might have actually contained cow’s milk.

HP Hood LLC, a dairy company, issued a recall of 145,254 half gallons of Blue Diamond Vanilla Almond Breeze because they potentially contained cow’s milk, according to WXII 12 News. The almond milk was safe to drink unless the consumer had a cow’s milk allergy, according to Blue Diamond’s press release.

“HP Hood LLC is voluntarily recalling a limited number of half-gallon (1.89 L) cartons of refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk because the product may contain milk, an allergen not listed on the label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the Food and Drug Administration wrote in a release.

The limited-edition milk product had a Sept. 2 expiration date.

“To date, there has been one report of an allergic reaction. Medical treatment or hospitalization was not required,” the FDA press release added. (RELATED: NY Times Editorial Criticizes FDA For Being Too Fast, Too Lenient. Here’s Why The Times Is Wrong)

The recall was issued for 28 states, including Arkansas, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Florida, New York and Maryland.
