CNN’s White House correspondent Jim Acosta went after conservative outlets for their coverage of the president while on “The Late Show” With Stephen Colbert, Wednesday night.

WATCH:

Acosta and Colbert were discussing his experience at President Trump’s rally in Tampa last week, in which Acosta was heckled by the president’s supporters.

“[Trump supporters] really like this president, but they’ll ask me, ‘Why don’t you report the good things that he does.’ I said, ‘Listen, we just talked about the jobs numbers last Friday. He had good jobs numbers last Friday.’ And they’ll say ‘Oh, OK,’” he stated.

“As you talk to these folks they sort of calm down but my sense of it Stephen is a lot of these folks, they get their impression of what we do by watching other conservative outlets, they look at other conservative websites,” Acosta stated. “And these folks are focused on the coverage of the president’s behavior more so than they are the president’s behavior. And to me, I think the president’s behavior is more newsworthy than our coverage.”

“But a lot of these folks out there they’re getting their sense of what we do twisted and warped by some people out there who just want to do the president’s bidding,” he continued. (RELATED: CNN’s Acosta Shares Pre ‘Late Show’ Snap, Critics Have A Field Day)

Acosta has had a tumultuous relationship with the Trump administration. Most recently, he got into a standoff with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her refusal to denounce the president’s labeling of the news media as the “enemy of the people.”
