CNN’s primetime ratings have actually improved–and Chris Cuomo is the reason why.

Cuomo’s new show has improved CNN’s ratings over June and July since replacing Anderson Cooper in the 9pm hour.

The Wrap reports:

“The numbers reflect gains of 33 and 35 percent, respectively, from May, when Anderson Cooper’s last month helmed the hour as well as his longstanding 8 p.m. show.

Cuomo’s numbers improved even further in July, to 1.15 million total viewers and 381,000 in the demo. ‘Cuomo Prime Time’ is currently the highest rated show on CNN and its July performance is the best CNN has seen in that timeslot since 2009, according to Nielsen data.”

That being said, Cuomo’s rise isn’t too impressive yet–he is still 23rd in the month of July, below many of Fox News’ daytime programs, according to Nielsen Media Research.

During almost all of 2018, Fox News has been the king of cable news ratings, with hosts Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity attracting millions of viewers. (RELATED: Not A Single CNN Show Is In The Top 20 For Cable News)
