Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer did not hold back his views on legal abortion in a podcast appearance on Thursday.
The host of the show prefaced her question to the Senator by asserting that there is widespread support for the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, although some restrictions are also supported.
“Our NPR Marist Poll shows a strong consensus in support of Roe v. Wade, although most Americans agree that there needs to be significant restrictions beyond, you know, three months of pregnancy,” she said.
“Well, I think what it is, is people we’ve had Roe for so long and it’s been so much the part and fabric of American life that people think well no matter who’s on the court it’ll pretty much stay where it is. I don’t think that’s accurate,” Schumer responded.
Schumer concluded his segment on abortion by ripping the Federalist Society and Leonard Leo in particular, saying his “goal in life is to repeal Roe v. Wade.”
