U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested an 81-year-old woman who allegedly smuggled heroin worth over $870,000 across the Tijuana-San Diego border Wednesday.

A K-9 guided authorities to a 2011 Chrysler, which reportedly held 34 wrapped packages of heroin in the vehicle’s rocker panels. The unidentified woman was arrested around 11:30 a.m. and turned into the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday, CBP said, according to KTLA 5.

The elderly woman is an American citizen, ABC 7 reported. (RELATED: Border Patrol Agent Saved Drowning Woman Who Jumped Off Cliff To Swim Back To Mexico)

“The cartels will try and manipulate anyone to smuggle their narcotics through the ports of entry,” San Diego field operations director for Border Protection Pete Flores said, according to ABC7.

Officials confiscated the vehicle that held nearly 92 pounds of the drug.

CBP, the National Guard and Department of Defense have seized over 13,000 pounds of illicit drugs as part of Operation Guardian Support (OGS) as of Thursday. The joint collaboration provides additional support to CBP to enforce border security.

OGS also led to more than 13,000 arrests, over 4,000 people forced to turn back and close to 70 seizures of vehicles, according to Thursday’s data.
