President Donald Trump honored a border patrol officer Monday who discovered dozens of illegal immigrants in the back of trailer.

CBP Agent Adrian Anzaldua discovered 78 illegal immigrants locked in a refrigerated trailer Aug. 11.

The White House held a wide-ranging event honoring members of immigration and customs enforcement along with border patrol agents. The event is in response to the growing “Abolish ICE” movement throughout the Democratic party.

Trump called the agent up to the podium and joked “he didn’t know he was going to do this,” explaining “I want to ask you about that, 78 lives. You saved 78 people. So how did you feel that there were people in that trailer? A lot of trailers.” The agent thanked the president for calling him to the podium and explained how he observed a truck that fled a border patrol checkpoint after a canine triggered an alert.

“I opened the little latch of the back of the tractor-trailer and revealed a lot of subjects. I quickly asked for backup and backup got there and the subjects were transported back to transport back to the checkpoint and all of them were in good health,” he said.
