Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez asserted on Tuesday that Democrats still have a chance to win a race that they have already conceded.

“43 seats have flipped from red to blue in places like Oklahoma, Kentucky, across the map and we have the most recent election in Ohio, the 12th congressional district, which is a district Republicans have held for 25 years,” Perez said during an interview with liberal radio host Bill Press.

“Has that been decided yet, by the way?” Press asked. “I think they’re still counting ballots out there.”

“By the time they count it it will be the elections!” Perez joked. “So don’t take any curtain measurements, Mr. Balderson, if you end up being declared the winner.”

Republican Troy Balderson was already announced the winner of the Ohio 12 special election on Friday. Democrat Danny O’Connor called Balderson to concede the race.
