Donald Trump commented on speculation that former Secretary of State John Kerry would be running for president in 2020.

Trump said he hopes that Kerry decides to run — for his sake — and called the former Democratic presidential candidate and US Senator “the father of the now terminated Iran deal.” Trump said that he would be “lucky” if Kerry decided to jump in.

“I see that John Kerry, the father of the now terminated Iran deal, is thinking of running for President,” Trump said, “I should only be so lucky – although the field that is currently assembling looks really good – FOR ME!”

According to reports, Kerry has speculated in private circles about a run against Trump.

John Kerry ran for president in 2004 against George W Bush and lost decidedly in the general election.  Kerry is one of dozens of Democrats who have hinted at a run against Trump in 2020 in what looks to be one of the most crowded fields in presidential history.
