Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham explained what he thinks about how Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein handled the letter she received back in July alleging Brett Kavanaugh attempted to sexually assault a woman back in the 1980s on “The Story With Martha MacCallum” on Fox News Tuesday.

“In terms of the calls for an FBI investigation, is the FBI in the business of opening investigations into things that are so far in the past that there’s no way that they would be able to proceed toward charges on that issue?” Martha MacCallum asked.

“Well, again, you don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out what’s going on here. If you think this was serious enough for the FBI to get involved, why didn’t you raise it July 30 when you first heard about it?” Graham responded. “Why did you sit on it for weeks, over a month, and do nothing about it? Why now do you want an FBI investigation to delay this past the midterms?”

The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberly Strassel pointed out that the Democrats are misleading the public in regards to what role the FBI plays in investigating these allegations. “This could not be prosecuted in any court in the land,” he continued. “[The FBI] doesn’t investigate state crime, they don’t investigate things you can’t prosecute. They do background checks.” (RELATED: Sen. Lindsey Graham Questions Validity Of Sexual Assault Allegations)
