Hannity Reclaims Number One Cable News Spot As Maddow Slips

Fox News host Sean Hannity reclaimed the number one television show last week, beating MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow by almost half a million viewers per show.

Maddow seized the number one ranking from Hannity just two weeks ago, when she boasted an average nightly audience of 3.43 million and 667,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic.

According to Nielsen Media Research, Hannity got the best of Maddow from September 17th to September 23rd, averaging 3,537,000 viewers compared to her 3,057,000. In the coveted 25-54 demographic, Hannity again beat Maddow by garnering 633,000 average nightly viewers compared to her 588,000.

Fox News Channel stayed atop the network rankings, marking the channels 37th consecutive week as the highest-rated basic cable network in total day viewers. Fox also took the number one spot in primetime ratings, while MSNBC fell to third behind ESPN. CNN ranked 10th in primetime, with just over a third of Fox’s primetime viewership.

Fox Business also beat CNBC in total day viewership.
