President Trump revealed on Wednesday afternoon what Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said to him in regards to the New York Times report that claimed he considered wearing a wire to record the president.

When asked whether he intended to fire Rosenstein, President Trump responded, “I am talking to him. We had a good talk. He said he never said it. He said he doesn’t believe it. He says he has a lot of respect for me, and he was very nice. We will see. He’s a member of the Trump Administration in that sense, the Justice Department. I would certainly prefer not doing that.”

Trump then added, “There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. Unless you call obstruction the fact that I fight back. I do fight back. I really fight back. I mean if you call that obstruction, that’s fine. But there is no obstruction. There is no collusion.”

“I’m going to meet with him tomorrow,” he said, noting that a slight change in plans could be made to accommodate Thursday’s scheduled hearings regarding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. “I may call Rod tonight or tomorrow and ask for a little bit of a delay to the meeting because I don’t want to do anything that gets in the way of this very important Supreme Court pick.”

According to a New York Times report from last week, Rosenstein allegedly suggested wearing a wire to record the president and he was on board with approaching cabinet officials in an effort to invoke the 25th amendment which would remove Trump from office. (RELATED: REPORT: Rosenstein Discussed Wearing A Wire In Meetings With Trump)
