The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed the Justice Department for memos that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrote following his meetings with senior government officials, including President Donald Trump.

The committee also subpoenaed the Justice Department for the so-called “Woods file” the Justice Department and FBI compiled to obtain four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

The Woods file consists of “any document concerning or relating to any attempt to verify the accuracy of any alleged facts stated in the FISA applications for Mr. Page.”

The file would seemingly have reviewed allegations made in the Steele dossier, the infamous Democrat-funded report that the FBI cited heavily in the FISA applications against Page. (RELATED: Report: Rod Rosenstein Discussed Wearing A Wire In Meetings With Trump)

It has long been known that McCabe wrote memos following some of his meetings with Trump and other government officials. They were provided to the special counsel’s office more than a year ago.

But the memos took on new significance on Sept. 21 after The New York Times reported that McCabe claimed that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said during meetings in May 2017 that he was willing to wear a wire in order to spy on Trump. McCabe also claimed that Rosentein discussed using the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

Rosenstein has disputed McCabe’s memos, saying that he never seriously discussing wearing a wire or deposing Trump. Justice Department officials who were in the meeting in question have claimed that Rosenstein was being sarcastic when he mentioned wearing a wire. The House Judiciary Committee also subpoenaed all documents related to the Russia investigation that were provided to the Gang of Eight in May 2018.

The subpoena calls on the Justice Department to produce the documents by Oct. 4.
