MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” panel criticized Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh for writing an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, only two days after calling for more unbiased coverage and civility.

“Joe, obviously he’s doing mop-up work there,” co-host Willie Geist said. “The other concern he didn’t address is that he sounded partisan. He talked about, effectively, a Clinton conspiracy against them to take down his nomination.”

Kavanaugh’s Thursday article explained why he lost his temper at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing over allegations he pinned Christine Blasey Ford to a bed and tried to remove her clothing while the two were minors, but asked readers to understand he “was there as a son, husband and dad.”

Host Joe Scarborough said it would be an issue having Kavanaugh on the court because his decisions would always be tainted by a personal political vendetta against the Democratic Party. (RELATED: Joe Scarborough Says Media Carried Out Biased Hit Job On Kavanaugh)

“It doesn’t matter where you stand, whether you’re conservative or liberal, whether you support the judge or you don’t support the judge, it’s so problematic — to think about somebody like that sitting on the Supreme Court where there’s never going to be a decision that he makes that isn’t tainted by partisanship,” Scarborough said.

“And, yes, federal judges can be partisan. They do have their own beliefs and their own opinions, but my God, every federal judge I’ve ever known has certainly shown — I’ve been fortunate, I guess — a lot of dignity, and you can’t get them talking about politics because they find it unbecoming.”

These comments come just two days after Scarborough blamed the media for being too emotionally invested in Kavanaugh’s demise and accused them of one-sided coverage.

“The media coverage of this has been so one-sided, it has been so biased. There has been the presumption from the very beginning that every single allegation made against the judge was true,” Scarborough said Wednesday. “And I say this again as somebody who said before the allegations, I didn’t think he should be on the Supreme Court. That this is what happened during the run-up to the Trump election.”

“Yeah and he takes a lot of this personally,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said Friday. “I think that op-ed was telling. If anybody’s looking really close at this — Senator Joe Manchin, he says, ‘I know my tone was sharp and I might have said a few things that I should haven’t said and I hope everyone can understand.’ No. No. Uh-uh. We don’t understand that at all, actually.”

“Everyone is trying to understand whether or not you are fit for the job. So I don’t think his highly emotional raging reaction makes him guilty,” she concluded. “We have no idea whether he’s guilty or innocent of what he’s accused, but it does show something … about his fitness.”
