The crowdfunding page to support a potential challenger for Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins got so much traffic that it crashed Friday afternoon when she announced her intention to vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
The site raised over $1 million after Collins revealed her intention to vote yes on Kavanaugh and crashed around 3:55 p.m., reported The Washington Post.
“Either Sen. Collins VOTES NO on Kavanaugh OR we fund her future opponent,” states the CrowdPac page that had collected over $3 million as of Saturday morning, reported the Washington Times. It is unclear when exactly the page was back up and running.
“During Collins’s floor speech, our site received 90 times the average amount of traffic we see hourly,” Gisel Kordestani, CrowdPac’s chief executive, said, according to the Washington Times. “This incredible and immediate response to Collins’s decision overwhelmed our servers, and our team is worked as quickly as possible to get Crowdpac.com back up and running.”
Activists had been trying to convince Collins to vote against Kavanaugh’s confirmation for months. She had called the crowdfunding efforts “the equivalent of an attempt to bribe me” in September.

Collins’s 2020 Democratic challenger is unknown, although former national security advisor Susan Rice expressed interest in running.
