President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has five names in mind to replace Nikki Haley as ambassador to the United Nations.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump identified only one person on the list: Dina Powell, a former deputy national security adviser to Trump.

“Dina would love it,” Trump said.

Trump announced earlier in the day that Haley would be leaving her post at the end of the year. The abrupt decision, first reported by Axios, left many in the White House in shock as there was no indication that she planned to leave office. Haley submitted her resignation on Oct. 3. (RELATED: Trump Reveals Plans For Nikki Haley)

The decision touched off widespread speculation about who could replace Haley, a former South Carolina governor.

Ivanka Trump was floated as a possible replacement, as was Richard Grenell, the ambassador to Germany. Trump said that Grenell is not one of the five under consideration, though he is open to considering adding his name to the list.

Trump told reporters that Grenell is “doing so well” as ambassador to Germany “that I wouldn’t want to move him.”

“I’d personally rather keep Ric where he is.”

Ivanka Trump removed herself from consideration in a statement issued on Twitter.

“It is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley,” she said. “That replacement will not be me.”
