Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano told President Donald Trump not to rely on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to bring down Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
“Who’s Rod Rosenstein’s principle accuser? Andy McCabe,” Napolitano said on “Fox & Friends” Thursday. “What is Andy being investigated for? Lying. So this is hardly the person that you want to hold up as a principle accuser to dislodge or otherwise interfere with the person who’s effectively running the [Department of Justice].”
“A lot of stuff is tangled like this. I think that Rosenstein is doing the right thing by taking a step back, even though I agree with the motivation of a lot of the Republicans,” he added.

McCabe was fired in March, just two days before his official retirement, for leaking sensitive information to the press. (RELATED: Report: Rosenstein Offered To Wear A Wire In Meetings With Trump)
The New York Times reported Rosenstein had offered to wear a wire to record Trump in May 2017, according to a memo authored by McCabe. Rosenstein also allegedly mentioned using the 25th Amendment as a vehicle to remove the president from office.
Rosenstein claimed it was all a joke and said he was never serious about recording Trump.
Rosenstein was set to appear before Congress in a closed-door session to explain his side of the story, but he will no longer be testifying this week.
“I don’t know what [Rosenstein’s] worried about except that he probably doesn’t want the transcripts out there and you know they’ll get out,” Napolitano concluded.
