On today’s episode of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast, we discuss the Twitter spat between President Trump, Stormy Daniels and Michael Avenatti and how, sometimes, it might be better if the president just let some things slide.

And Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated an obvious truth about entitlements and government spending and Nancy Pelosi and a Newsweek “journalist” perfectly illustrated his point about why government can’t get entitlement spending under control.

Listen to the show:

Trump scored a major legal victory yesterday against Stormy Daniels when not only was her defamation suit against him dismissed, but she was ordered to pay his legal bills. Rather than bask in his victory, or simply state it as fact, he took a victory lap and called Daniels “horseface.” While she may or may not have equine features, the president of the United States tweeting that caused a firestorm and ended up giving her and Avenatti exactly what they crave most — attention.

The disappearance of writer Jamal Khashoggi is the ultimate media story — a journalist gone missing, likely murdered. If he had held any other job, you likely wouldn’t have heard his name, but journalists are trying to spin the probable murder at the hands of Saudi Arabian government agents on Trump’s criticism of journalism and fake news. Ultimately, however, most Americans probably don’t care either way because it doesn’t involve Americans and happened on the other side of the planet.

McConnell discussed the real problem of entitlement spending, saying the only way this out-of-control financial mess will ever be addressed is if members of both parties decide to get serious about their unsustainability. As if on cue, Nancy Pelosi released a statement claiming Republicans want to slash the programs and Newsweek simply reported the Democratic spin as if it were fact. Now you can see why we’re screwed.
