MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch encouraged Democrats to “exaggerate” their claims about Republicans so that they can win in the 2018 midterm elections.

Deutsch made his plea directly to Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez during a Friday interview on “Morning Joe.” (RELATED: Here’s How Democrats Plan To Campaign In Red Districts)

“This is it: they’re taking your health care away, the rich are getting richer, this is your chance, and the vote is the vote of your lifetime,” Deutsch said, praising Perez’s attempts at Democratic messaging. “Both what you said and how you said it — chest out, strong, this counts, this matters, vote of your lifetime, they’re taking your health care away, stand up, be counted, we’re the good guys — that’s the tone.”

“They’re taking your health care away — they’re taking it away,” Deutsch repeated with aggressive hand gestures. “Even though it’s a bit of an exaggeration, that’s okay.”

“Morning Joe” cohost Joe Scarborough chimed in to defend Deutsch’s point and denied that it’s an “exaggeration” to say Republicans want to take away people’s health care. (RELATED: Missouri Senate Candidates Battle It Out Over Health Care)

“Donald Trump’s promising to take away health care for 20 million people — I mean, that’s pretty simple,” Scarborough said.
