Big show today as we talk about the return of former President Barack Obama and his sizable ego to the campaign trail. We also talk about the so-called “caravan” of illegal aliens seeking to invade the United States, and the Democrats’ desire to embrace them. And we mark the passing of a World War II hero who led a daring raid that prevented the Nazis from developing a nuclear bomb, which they surely would have used. All that and more today.

Listen to the Daily Daily Caller Podcast:

At a campaign event in Nevada, Obama declared himself to be a “truth teller.” But is he? Was he as president? Of course he wasn’t, and we recount some of his more famous lies with the audio and facts to back it up.

Obama is desperate to rewrite his own legacy of failed economics, the promise that two-percent growth was “the new normal,” and a foreign policy mess. His campaign speeches are more about him than any candidate. Considering he claimed to have learned about all the scandals of his administration through media reports, maybe he’s been reading reports of his two terms as president and thinks no one else remembers the truth. We do.

As the “caravan” of illegal aliens marches through Mexico behind the flags of the countries they’re fleeing, you have to wonder why they carry their flags so proudly when they’re willing to march 1,700 miles not to live there anymore. But what should be done about them? The U.S. has incredible economic power, not just through foreign aid but through our ability to cut off or heavily tax the transfer of money to Mexico. If Mexico won’t stop these people, maybe our government should cut off people sending money to Mexico? That would certainly get the attention of the Mexican government, since money sent from the U.S. to them is one of the most important aspects of the Mexican economy.

The world lost a hero yesterday when Joachim Ronneberg passed away at the age of 99. In 1943, Ronneberg led a small group of men in a Nazi heavy water plant in occupied Norway and destroyed it, effectively ending the Nazi push to build a nuclear weapon. As if parachuting into occupied territory wasn’t harrowing enough, they had to escape by cross-country skiing 200 miles into neutral Sweden while the German army chased them. The whole story is amazing and the world owes him a debt of gratitude.
