Rumors continue to swirl that the New York Jets are the heavy favorites to land Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell.

Bell will sit out the entire season after not signing the franchise tag with the Steelers this season. Now, it looks like he’ll be wearing green and white come 2019.

NFL expert Mike Freeman wrote the following for Bleacher Report:

According to a number of NFL scouts and front office executives, there’s only one team that makes sense for the Steelers star: the New York Jets.

“I think it’s a foregone conclusion,” said one Steelers source.

“That’s the place where most of us have him pegged to go,” said one NFC scout.

True, only the Oracle can see the future, but of the 10 NFL personnel sources I spoke to, six said they were certain Bell would head to New York.

I really don’t understand this move at all. Why would Bell go to the Jets if he cares about winning even a little bit? The Jets are a damn dumpster fire. They’re a joke. Sure, they’ve got a young quarterback in Sam Darnold, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to be contending anytime soon. (RELATED: Pittsburgh Steelers Get Hit With Devastating News Over Star’s Holdout)

Again, they’re an absolute disaster.

Freeman pointed out there’s a little speculation that he could go to the Packers. That, at least, makes sense. Green Bay has the talent to win right now and one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in Aaron Rodgers. I’d get him going there.

Going to the Jets? Not one bit. We’re really supposed to believe he sat out the entire season so that he could then sign with one of the worst franchises in the NFL? I’m not buying it.

The NFL is a crazy place, and anybody with a brain knows to expect the unexpected. Still, this just seems almost too bizarre to believe.
