Baker Mayfield wants people to know he’s not walking back his criticism of former Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson.
The Oklahoma Heisman winner tore into Jackson’s decision to go to the Bengals after being fired by Cleveland. He didn’t back down in the immediate aftermath, and that hasn’t changed since.
“No, I said what I said. It’s another week. We have to hit the reset button. We have to be able to come in, be able to block out the distractions, block out the outside noise like we have week to week every time this season and be able to do our job,” Mayfield told Cleveland.com when discussing if anything had changed since his criticism of Hue Jackson Wednesday. He also replied with “no comment” when asked if he’s had any contact with Jackson since the Browns beat the Bengals near the end of November.
The Browns play the Bengals Sunday, and you can guarantee that one will get heated. There’s bad blood all over the field, and that’s putting it lightly.

Mayfield had better hope he lights up Jackson and the Bengals, or he’s going to come out of this situation looking pretty damn foolish.
I’ve been critical of Mayfield’s actions off of the field for a long time, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. Having said that, I don’t have a problem with a guy being vocal as long as he goes out on the field and backs it up.
It’s one thing to be vocal and win. It’s another thing to be vocal and then turn around to take a loss.
