A misdemeanor charge of domestic violence against Washington Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster has been dropped by Florida prosecutors according to court records.

The second-year former first-round pick out of Alabama was released by the San Francisco 49ers after being arrested in Tampa, Florida, in November. He was charged with domestic violence after allegedly striking his girlfriend.

It was the second domestic violence-related arrest for Foster since he’s been in the league. The first domestic violence charge was dropped after the same girl backtracked and said she made the entire incident up. (RELATED: 49ers Reveal Whether They Will Cut Player Accused Of Domestic Violence If Convicted)

The Redskins took a lot of heat for claiming Foster off waivers as the NFL has been under scrutiny for past handling of domestic violence incidents. Despite Thursday’s news, it’s still far from certain whether Foster ever plays a down for the Redskins or any other NFL team.

While he has never been convicted of anything, the stigma of having Foster on your team isn’t going away anytime soon.
