Kawhi Leonard returned to San Antonio on Thursday and got the reception that most people anticipated.

The 2014 NBA Finals MVP had become public enemy number one in his old stomping grounds since he forced a trade to the Raptors in the offseason. (RELATED: NBA All-Star Looking For A New Home- But Where?)

The Spurs organization tried to diffuse the tension with a classy tribute video, but Spurs fans were having none of it, as they let Leonard hear it from pre-game introductions throughout the entire game, including every time he touched the ball. Spurs fans gave a much warmer reception to forward Danny Green, a role player on that Spurs championship team who was included in last summer’s blockbuster trade.

Once the game got under way, Leonard put together a solid performance with 21 points and five assists. However, the Spurs were able to get their revenge in the form of a 125-107 victory.

I’m sure Leonard is relieved that this game is over so he can move on with his season, and turn his focus towards championship basketball.
