Tate Martell has officially left the Ohio State football program.

The redshirt freshman had been toying with the idea of transferring since Justin Fields joined the Buckeyes, and now he’s officially headed to Miami. (RELATED: Georgia Quarterback Justin Fields Transfers To Ohio State)

The electric dual-threat quarterback announced the decision on Twitter early Wednesday morning.

I hate to say I told you all, but I did! It was obvious to me that Martell was heading out the door, despite the fact he tried to act supremely confident when discussing Fields’ arrival in Columbus.

Anybody with functioning eyes knew that Martell had no chance to beat out the former Georgia gunslinger in a QB competition. It just wasn’t going to happen.

Now, that doesn’t mean Martell isn’t a great quarterback. He’s incredibly talented. There are only a handful of quarterbacks capable of hanging with Fields, and the former OSU athlete just isn’t one of them.

Welcome to the world of college football. Luckily for Martell, he will see tons of reps at Miami, and he should be just fine in the ACC.

It’s now all Justin Fields in Columbus. He is likely going to set the Big Ten on fire. As a Wisconsin fan, I don’t love that.

As a fan of college football, I can’t wait to see it happen.
