MSNBC’s “To Catch a Predator” host Chris Hansen is in some hot water after allegedly writing some bad checks.

According to a TMZ report Wednesday, Hanson was arrested in Stamford, Connecticut, Monday after allegedly bouncing several checks after purchasing around $13,000 of merchandise from a “mom-and-pop shop.” He was released after turning himself in and being booked. (SLIDESHOW: These Are The Greatest Women On Instagram)

I think it’s fair to say that we’re all hoping the local police asked him to take a seat right over there when he turned himself in.

The irony of this situation is almost too much to handle. The man made a career out of catching criminals breaking the law, and now he finds himself allegedly on the wrong side of the tracks.

Granted, there’s a big difference between being a pedophile and writing a bad check. They’re not even a little bit similar, other than they’re both illegal. (RELATED: Chris Hansen Allegedly Caught Cheating)

Still, you all understand the point I’m trying to make here.

I think we need to let Hansen go as quickly as possible, and throw all the charges into the trash bin. Who will catch all the pedophiles if the former “To Catch a Predator” host is behind bars.

Think hard about that one before answering.

What an embarrassing fall from grace for a man that was, once upon a time, a guardian for this great country.
