Would the Los Angeles Rams give up on Jared Goff in favor of Kirk Cousins?

That’s the theory floated by ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio in a recent column discussing the potential of Sean McVay’s squad getting the Vikings star. He wrote the following about the idea of the Rams going after Cousins:

McVay worked with Cousins in Washington, and McVay continues to have a high opinion of Cousins’ abilities. With Goff playing well enough during McVay’s first year in L.A. to make keeping the 2016 first-rounder around a no-brainer, McVay’s team never was in the market for Cousins.

Two years from now, McVay may feel very differently. He already may feel differently now, after digesting Goff’s performance on Sunday.

Okay, I like Florio, I think ProFootballTalk is a great site, but this is an absurd theory to float. It’s just downright crazy.

Why would the Rams give up on their very talented young quarterback so they could go after Cousins? I might be wrong here, but I’m pretty sure the Vikings quarterback has accomplished anything really impressive. (RELATED: Patriots Beat The Rams In The Super Bowl)

Let me check my notes real quick.

Yep, Kirk Cousins hasn’t done a fraction of the stuff in the postseason that Goff did with the Rams over the past few weeks.

Sure, he didn’t play great in the Super Bowl, but that’s football. Cousins hasn’t even managed to get to a Super Bowl. Why would the Rams or anybody else think he’d show in the big game?

At least Goff did enough to get his team the opportunity to win the Lombardi Trophy.

If you haven’t figured it out already, I think this idea is insanely dumb.
