MMA fighter Josh Copeland might be in some serious trouble after allegedly punching his wife.

According to TMZ, Copeland was charged with second-degree assault, obstruction and child abuse after he allegedly struck his wife in the face as his child watched. His wife was taken to a hospital for medical attention as he was booked.

The same TMZ report also claimed that Copeland’s wife “slapped him in the face multiple times.”

This sounds like a really bad situation all the way around. I’m not sure there’s ever going to be a person on the planet who can justify a man who weighs north of 250 pounds and is a trained fighter allegedly striking his wife.

These allegations are absolutely horrific. Not only is he accused of punching his wife, but he’s also accused of taking her phone so that she couldn’t call for help. (RELATED: Khabib Nurmagomedov Suspended, Fined $500,000 For Actions At UFC 229)

Again, this sounds like a terrible situation.

If he’s found guilty, then there’s a real chance no major fighting league will ever touch him again. Having a man convicted of these kinds of crimes isn’t something any league will want a part of.

Let’s all hope the criminal justice system gets to the bottom of what happened, and let’s hope it’s dealt with swiftly.
