Duke’s big 81-71 win over Virginia Saturday night put up some impressive TV numbers.

According to a Tuesday report from TVByTheNumbers, over 3.3 million people tuned in for Coach K., Zion Williamson and the rest of the Blue Devils‘ dominating performance against the Cavaliers. (RELATED: Zion Williamson Makes Monster Block Against Virginia)

This is just the latest sign that college basketball is as popular as ever. On a random Saturday night, millions and millions of people stopped to watch two basketball powerhouses go at it on ESPN.

That’s a good sign for the direction our country is headed in. Anytime that we’re watching a lot of college basketball, we’re in a good place.

I really hope Virginia and Duke meet again at some point this season. They’ve already played twice, and both games were fantastic.

Could you imagine if they met in the tournament? I’m salivating at the just the idea of that happening.

At the very least, it’s likely they’ll play each other again in the ACC tournament.

Life is good for Duke fans right now, the people running ESPN and college basketball fans everywhere. The numbers make that crystal clear.
