Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar said she would vote in favor of the Green New Deal as a “jumpstart,” but isn’t sold on it as legitimate legislation during an interview with Bret Baier on Tuesday night.

“Here’s the Green New Deal. If Senate Majority Leader brings it to the floor, how do you vote on it?” Baier asked.

“I see it as aspirational, I see it as a jump start. So I would vote yes but I would also if it got down to the nitty-gritty of an actual legislation as opposed to ‘oh here are goals we have,’ that would be different for me,” Klobuchar answered.

Baier’s question comes shortly after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced his intention to schedule a Senate vote on the Green New Deal. (RELATED: Lindsey Graham Calls For A Vote On The ‘Green New Deal’ — But Not Because He Supports It)

Baier added,”Here are the goals. Full transition off fossil fuels including drastically reducing air travel. Are you for it?”

Klobuchar responded, “I am for a jump-start of the discussion and a framework, as Senator Markey has described. I’m not for reducing air travel.”

“Net-zero greenhouse gas emissions,” Baier continued.

“I don’t think that’s going to happen in the next few years. But you can imagine by new technology and by the way that includes nuclear and everything else that we could get to a better place,” the senator said.

The Fox News host stated, “Economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”

“I don’t agree with ‘unwilling to work,” Klobuchar answered.

The Green New Deal was introduced by freshman Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey.

Multiple Democrats who are running for the party’s nomination in 2020 have announced their support for the deal. Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Cory Booker of New Jersey, who have both announced their bids for the 2020 nomination, have signed on as Senate co-sponsors of the Green New Deal.

Klobuchar threw her hat into that ring Sunday when she announced her candidacy.
