It’s The 20-Year Anniversary Of Steve Nash And Santa Clara Upsetting Arizona

Today, Monday, marks a wonderful day in March Madness history, and it was when the world got introduced to Steve Nash.

On March 18, 1993, Santa Clara and Nash upset two-seed Arizona, despite the fact the Wildcats were favored by 20. (RELATED: The March Madness Bracket Has Been Released)

The future NBA superstar dropped 10 points, dished out four assists and grabbed seven rebounds in what is widely-considered one of the greatest upsets in March Madness history, as the Broncos won 63-60.

What happened next is history. Nash went to the NBA, dominated and will be headed to the Hall of Fame. His first introduction to the nation was as the skinny point guard of the 15-seed Santa Clara basketball team. (RELATED: Watch Wisconsin Beat Kentucky In The 2015 Final Four)

It really doesn’t get much crazier than that, and that’s why we love March Madness so much.

I think I speak for everybody when I say that we all cheer for upsets in the tournament. As long as it doesn’t happen to our team, then we’re all-in on watching the big dogs go down.

This is America. We love a great underdog story, and Santa Clara slaying the mighty Wildcats on this day 20 years ago was an epic day in the world of basketball.
