Rams coach Sean McVay pulled a mean prank on his friend Kliff Kingsbury.

The two men were getting dinner together with Patrick Mahomes, who was Kingsbury’s QB during his tenure at Texas Tech, and the young NFL coaching star couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mess with his guy.

“We have a mutual friend, and I put his name in my phone as ‘Roger Goodell.’ I had this friend send me a text saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re at dinner with Kingsbury and Mahomes. You know better than this. This is tampering. You’re both losing picks.’ I showed Kliff the text, and he looked like he saw a ghost,” McVay explained on Adam Schefter’s podcast, according to ProFootballTalk Monday night.

The Cardinals new coach was apparently under the belief that he was about to lose the top pick in the draft. “We couldn’t let it go on too long. It was pretty good. We got him good,” the Rams coach added. (RELATED: Kyler Murray Meets With The Arizona Cardinals)

My friends, that sure is funny but it’s also mean as hell. Imagine being in Kingsbury shoes, a first time NFL head coach, and thinking you’d just cost your team the top pick in the draft.

I might die right then and there out of panic. My heart might just explode. I can’t imagine what was going through his head when Kingsbury thought he just ruined his team’s draft.

It’s borderline cruel on the part of McVay.

We’ll see if Kingsbury can get him back when they meet on the field. After all, winning and slaughtering your opponents is the greatest joy of them all.

McVay should watch his back. Kingsbury is probably going to be gunning for him.
