Vanderbilt is eyeing up Jerry Stackhouse as the program’s new basketball coach.
According to Jeff Goodman, the Commodores are “zeroed” in on the former NBA star and current G-League coach for the position.
Vanderbilt has zeroed in on G-League coach Jerry Stackhouse, source told @stadium. Vandy AD ran the G-League prior to getting gig, and Stackhouse also has experience with AAU program.

This is a terrible idea. Terrible. The SEC is doing its best to beef up its coaching ranks, and why would anybody believe that Stackhouse is the man who should take over Vanderbilt?

I don’t have anything against Stackhouse. I don’t know the guy, but I get paid to call things as I see them. Hiring him would be a massive mistake.
If Vandy wants to improve quickly, they should find a good mid-major coach on the rise and lure him away. That’s a winning strategy.

Hiring the former Detroit Pistons star isn’t even close to a good idea. If they go through with this call, Vandy is fixing to get smoked for years to come.
