President Donald Trump praised singer and actress Cher for her tweet on mass immigration Sunday night.

Trump tweeted a screenshot Monday of the ‘If I Could Turn Back Time,” singer’s own tweet bemoaning Trump’s proposal to release illegal immigrants into “sanctuary cities,” including Cher’s residence of Los Angeles, California.  (RELATED: Sen. “I finally agree with Cher!” Trump tweeted.

Cher tweeted Sunday night that while she has compassion for immigrants coming to the United States, she implied that struggling Americans should be the country’s main priority.

“I Understand Helping struggling Immigrants, but MY CITY (Los Angeles) ISNT TAKING CARE OF ITS OWN,” Cher said. “THE 50,000+ [American] citizens WHO LIVE ON THE STREETS. PPL WHO LIVE BELOW POVERTY LINE, & HUNGRY? If My State Can’t Take Care of Its Own (Many Are VETS) How Can it Take Care Of More,” she wrote.

Cher’s comments Sunday night represented an about-face from the pop singer on the subject of immigration. When the Trump administration rescinded the Obama-era Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2017, Cher offered to take a “Dreamer”  into her home and encouraged others to do the same. “Those Who Can Must Take a DREAMER In2 Their Home & Protect Them!!” she tweeted at the time. “I’m Ready [to] Do This & Others in MY BUSINESS WILL DO THE SAME. SANCTUARY,” she wrote in September of 2017.
