Cleveland Browns coach Freddie Kitchens sounds very impressed with Kareem Hunt.
Hunt was cut from the Kansas City Chiefs after a video of him was released by TMZ appearing to show him pushing and kicking a woman. Shortly after the season ended, the Browns signed him, and it sounds like it went well. (RELEASED: Kareem Hunt Signs With The Cleveland Browns)
Kitchens told the media the following, according to ProFootballTalk Sunday:
He is doing everything we are asking him to do. Exceeding expectations from the standpoint of how he is in the building, how he is around the players and how he is on the field. I have never been around him until now, but that’s what I see and that’s what we have gotten. He is doing things in the community. He is continuing to work on an everyday basis, and he is not taking any days off from the standpoint of becoming a better person, a better player, and I think everybody is going to see the benefits of that.
It will be fascinating to see how Hunt does this season after serving his eight game suspension. Personally, I don’t even want to see him play in the NFL again so soon.
Eight games? Hardly seems like long enough of a suspension. If the league really wants to handle its perceived issue with violence against women, then maybe it should consider a longer suspension than eight games. (RELATED: Tyreek Hill Case Re-Opened After Disturbing Audio Emerges)

The sad thing with Hunt is that he has all the talent in the world. He’s a star running back, but the fact he appeared to shove and kick a woman on video is indefensible. It’s really as simple as that in my mind.
Maybe Kitchens is the man capable of getting the most out of Hunt. I have no idea. Time will tell, and it sounds like things are off to a hot start for him in Cleveland.
Let’s just hope he has learned his lesson, and grown as a man.
