Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell ignored the question of whether he would be pushing for the impeachment of either Attorney General William Barr or President Donald Trump.

Swalwell appeared on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” on Wednesday, just hours after Barr testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the rollout of the Mueller report. (RELATED: MacCallum Grills Swalwell For Standing By Debunked Dossier)

Swalwell argued that Barr’s testimony was concerning in part because he had accepted Mueller’s conclusions rather than reviewing the evidence for himself.

“It was clear they never went into the financial records or the financial dealings between the Trumps and the Russians,” Swalwell added. “That is something we’re going to do on the intelligence committee. But that should also …”

MacCallum interrupted, pointing out that because Democrats now control the House, they had the power to move forward on a number of issues.

“That’s fine. That’s your prerogative,” she said. “Obviously, you guys can move forward with impeachment proceedings for the president. I mean, the ball is really in your court now. You said you want Barr to resign or he could be impeached. The president’s impeachment is on the table. So are you planning to move forward with impeachment of the president or impeachment of Bill Barr?”

Swalwell didn’t even appear to acknowledge the question, saying, “So Barr was supposed to turn over to us the full Mueller report because there is an eighth of it that’s missing.”

But just shy of 24 hours earlier, Swalwell had made that very call on MSNBC.

He has said several times that the Mueller report has put Democrats “on the road” to impeachment — noting that only once they hear from Mueller himself will he be satisfied that they have all of the information necessary to make a reasonable decision.

Barr was scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, but has said that he would decline to appear.
