Democratic Massachusetts Sen. and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren urged the House to impeach President Donald Trump in a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday.

“The information that has been given to us in the Mueller report clearly constitutes adequate information to begin an impeachment proceeding in the House of Representatives,” she said. “No matter how many times Mitch McConnell or the rest of the Republicans want to wish that away, it’s there in black and white in the report.”

Warren based her call for impeachment on Robert Mueller’s findings regarding whether Trump obstructed justice in the course of the Russia probe and cited a statement from former prosecutors who say Mueller’s findings constitute grounds for an indictment.

Mueller laid out a detailed report on possible obstruction charges but did not recommend prosecution of Trump, in part because, as a sitting president, he is protected from indictment. Attorney General William Barr said he would not press charges based on Mueller’s findings, which he found to be insufficient grounds for an obstruction charge. “This is not a fight I wanted to take on, but this is the fight in front of us now,” she added. “This is not about politics. This is about the Constitution of the United States of America. We took an oath not to try to protect Donald Trump. We took an oath to protect and serve the Constitution of the United States of America. And the way we do that is we begin impeachment proceedings now against this president.”

Leading House Democrats have downplayed the prospect of impeaching Trump in recent months, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who said in March that Trump is “just not worth it.” She upped the ante a bit on Tuesday, however, saying Trump is “goading us to impeach him.”

Warren is one of a few Democrats running for president who is openly calling for immediate impeachment proceedings. She is joined most notably by Sen. Kamala Harris, who called for the move in a recent town hall.
