Celebrities have spoken out on Twitter and other social media platforms following the Alabama governor signing a new abortion bill into law Wednesday.

The bill signed into law Wednesday is the most restrictive ban on abortion which gives no exceptions for rape and incest.

Lady Gaga shared her thoughts on the ban in a statement posted to her Twitter account. The “A Star Is Born” actress captioned the statement, “I love you Alabama prayers to all women and young girls here are my thoughts.”

“It is an outrage to ban abortion in Alabama period, and all the more heinous that it excludes those [who] have been raped or are experiencing incest non-consensual or not,” the pop star tweeted. (RELATED: Alabama Gov. Signs Most Restrictive Abortion Bill Into Law)

“So there’s a higher penalty for doctors who perform these operations than for most rapists? This is a travesty … ” she added.

Comedian Chelsea Handler joined the list of celebrities voicing concerns over the ban as well questioning how the men who voted for the bill to pass know what it’s like to be a woman.

“Of those 25 men who voted to ban abortion in Alabama, I’d like to know how many of them have ever been pregnant. Or have gotten pregnant as a result of rape. I’d like to know how many of those men know exactly what it is like to be a woman. The answer is zero,” Handler wrote.

Other stars speaking out on the issue included Chris Evans of “Captain America,” singer John Legend and actor Michael Rapaport.
