Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly is apparently doing well after her brain surgery.

The Detroit Lions gunslinger’s wife underwent surgery in April to remove a brain tumor, and she suffered some complications afterwards that saw her return to the hospital. It now sounds like she’s doing much better. (RELATED: Matthew Stafford‘s Wife Kelly Announces That She Has A Brain Tumor)

Stafford said the following during a recent appearance on The Mitch Albom Show, according to WJR:

She’s doing good. I think she’s kind of right where the doctors want her to be at this point of her recovery. We appreciated everybody’s well wishes, thoughts, prayers, all that. People have been really supportive and I know she and I really appreciate it.

This is great news for the entire Stafford family. It’s been an incredibly scary situation, and fans have obviously been paying attention.

The Lions star has been working out with the team while all of Kelly’s medical issues have been dealt with, but I wouldn’t blame him one bit if he took a substantial amount of time off. (RELATED: Detroit Lions Draft Iowa Tight End T.J. Hockenson 8th Overall)

There are many things more important than football in life, and your wife’s health is right at the top of that list.

Hopefully, Kelly is back to feeling 100% sooner than later, and Detroit’s superstar passer can return to focusing fully on football once that happens.

I feel like there’s big things on the horizon this year with the team, but none of that will matter if Stafford’s wife isn’t healthy.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his entire family.
