NFL superstar J.J. Watt opened up his wallet to help the family of murdered firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard.

The Appleton firefighter was shot and killed Wednesday in Wisconsin when responding to a “call about a medical emergency on a bus,” according to WBAY. The suspect was also killed in the shooting.

A GoFundMe was set up for Lundgaard’s family, and the Houston Texans superstar, who is from Wisconsin, donated $10,000.

If you had any doubts about whether or not Watt is one of the coolest guys in all of sports, they should all be gone by now. (RELATED: NFL Legend Gives Incredible Speech During College Graduation. Every American Needs To Hear His Wise Words)

He is a pillar of the community, and the former Wisconsin Badgers star constantly steps up to help others.

As of this moment, there is only one other person on the GoFundMe who has matched his donation. Sending $10,000 to somebody you have no connections to is a hell of a great gesture.

There’s no amount of money that’s going to ease the pain of Lundgaard’s wife and three children. All the money in the world won’t replace a husband, father and servant of the community. However, maybe it’ll help them get a little more financial security going forward.

Major props to Watt and everybody else who has helped.
