Quarterback Josh McCown has retired from the league.

Adam Schefter announced the news Monday afternoon that McCown was done in the league after playing for 10 different teams since entering the NFL in 2002. (RELATED: Arizona Cardinals Select Kyler Murray First Overall In The NFL Draft)

He’ll end his career with 98 passing touchdowns and nearly $50 million in contract money earnings.

McCown was never a star in the league, but he was a bit of a legend. I’d even argue he was the most concrete journeyman at the position we’ve seen in the past decade.

If you didn’t have a star passer and needed somebody, Josh McCown was the man for you. By all accounts, he might also have been the nicest guy in the league.

You hate to see a guy like that hang it up, but he had a hell of a run for a guy who entered the league as a third round pick in 2002.

Towards the end of his career, he had some very solid times with the Browns and Jets. Again, he was never a star but he was extremely dependable and solid.

Best of luck to him in retirement. He’s certainly earned some rest and relaxation.
