“The View” co-host Joy Behar questioned Thursday why President Donald Trump couldn’t be brought up on charges or sued after the president’s supporters chanted “send her back” in reference to Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Behar accused Trump of “inviting violence” toward Omar and other progressive congresswoman. Trump, for his part, disavowed the chant Thursday that broke out at his rally in North Carolina the night before. (RELATED: Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford Mulls Trump Primary Challenge)

“He doesn’t care or doesn’t acknowledge the fact that what he is doing is possibly inviting violence towards these women, and women who are saying this is wrong,” Behar said. “I don’t like this.”

As the panel transitioned to its next segment, Behar mused aloud about Trump potentially facing criminal or civil charges over the audience’s chants, which she claimed put Omar in danger. (RELATED: Ilhan Omar To Introduce Resolution Supporting BDS)

“Why can’t he be brought up on charges of hate speech?” Behar asked. “Why can’t he be sued by the ACLU for hate speech?”

Ahead of Wednesday night’s rally, Trump received harsh criticism for telling Omar and other progressive congresswomen to “go back” to their home countries, despite Omar being the only one of the group who was actually born outside the country.

While Trump disavowed the “send her back” chants, he has doubled down on his “go back” tweet from last weekend, accusing Omar and other members of making anti-American and anti-Semitic statements.
