Dale Earnhardt Jr. finally broke his silence after his family survived a fiery, plane crash in Tennessee last week and said they are “truly blessed” that no one was seriously injured.

“Amy and I want to thank everyone who has lifted us up with phone calls, messages and prayer since last Thursday,” the 44-year-old legendary NASCAR driver tweeted, according to Today.com in a piece published Tuesday. (RELATED: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Breaks From NASCAR Owners On Protesting)

“We are truly blessed that all on board escaped with no serious injuries, including our daughter, our two pilots and our dog Gus,” he added. “With respect to the investigation, we will not be speculating or discussing the cause of the accident.” (RELATED: Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Plane Crashes In Tennessee, All Onboard Unharmed)

Dale concluded, “I am thankful for the quick response of my pilots, local law enforcement, emergency personnel and hospital staff. Lastly, Amy and I continue to be very appreciative of the privacy extended to us to process everything. It has been important to do that together and on our own time.”

The heartfelt comments come after news surfaced last Thursday that the private plane the driver and his family had been flying in had slid off the runway and then caught fire. But miraculously everyone on board, including his wife, one-year-old daughter, Isla, dog and two pilots all got out safely with only minimal cuts and abrasions.

Shortly after the reports came out, video surfaced online showing the fiery plane crash.
