Move over Harry Potter, the Kindle is even hotter than you.

The third-generation Kindle is now the best-selling product in Amazon’s history, eclipsing the seventh Potter installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the online retailer said Monday.

Kindle sales ignited over the Christmas selling season even though it faced fierce competition from tablets with e-reader capabilities such as Apple’s iPad.

Amazon did not disclose sales figures. The company’s shares closed at $182.14, down 45 cents.

The latest version of the Kindle is both smaller and lighter than past incarnations. Priced at $139, it’s cheaper too.
