MSNBC host Ronan Farrow held a panel about video game “diversity” on his television program “Ronan Farrow Daily” on Tuesday, when he revealed he played a video game about a “coming-of-age lesbian love story.”

“I just played a game called ‘Gone Home,’ which is a coming-of-age lesbian love story, not what you expect in games,” Farrow told the MSNBC panel.

Farrow went on to ask one of his panelists about “inclusivity” in the video game industry.

“Rand, another inclusivity issue is, Nintendo just got criticism for not including same-sex relationships in a simulator game. Do games need to be more inclusive when they’re mirroring real life?” Farrow asked.

“Of course. It’s diversity,” BioShock Infinite game creator Ken Levine told MSNBC. “This industry is maturing a bit and as it does, we’ve got to portray across the board. We got to portray everything but we’re seeing that. I mean, honestly, as people are more creative, they’re bringing more of their real life experiences and there’s a certain freedom in that, and I get excited.”

This discussion was inspired by new video games currently appearing at the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles this week.
