Police say a 76-year-old Indiana man made an alleged thief pay big time for pointing a gun at his wife.

A man was allegedly attempting to rob a 75-year-old woman in the couple’s rental office when her husband surprised the thief. When the husband saw the gun pointed at his wife, he drew his own weapon and fired several shots into the perpetrator, The Indianapolis Star reports.

“As the suspect pointed a gun at the elderly female, the victim’s husband, of whom the suspect did not see, appeared from the back of the house,” police said in a statement. “The victim’s husband feared imminent danger for his wife, produced and fired his weapon critically injuring the suspect.”

Indianapolis metro police arrived Monday evening to find Anthony Talley, 27, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Talley had several outstanding warrants.

Thankfully, the couple was not injured.
