During a Monday morning interview on MSNBC, Toure Neblett predicted that more and more athletes will begin protesting the national anthem before games.
“We are going further and further,” Neblett explained when asked if the protests will continue to escalate. “You see Megan Rapinoe, the soccer star joining. You see the high school player joining, completely let down by all the adults around him who penalized him for standing up right. They’ll all come back to that decision one day.” (RELATED: NFL Commish Says He Supports Kaepernick, Might Punish Players Who Honored 9/11)
“We’re seeing lots of people, say ‘standing in our power and raising our voice is something that we feel we have to do.’ It would be unconscionable to know there’s a problem and say nothing.”
Neblett expects the support for the protests to explode “when the NBA season comes back.
“You know that NBA players are wanting to get down with this, and they have they have a leader, right, in LeBron James who is growing more and more political and Chris Paul, also. They may say, hey, guys, let’s do something as an entire unit.”
