Let’s hope Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson isn’t claustrophobic. On Wednesday morning, the administration official got stuck in an elevator at a low income housing complex in Miami, where he’s on a listening tour this week.
And of course the whole thing was captured on Twitter.
Renee Rodriguez, a reporter for The Miami Herald, set the scene, while CNN’s Kate Bennett put the whole incident in all caps.
“THE HUD SECRETARY IS STUCK IN A PUBLIC HOUSING ELEVATOR,” Bennett announced rather quietly.

UPDATE: Carson went on SiriusXM Wednesday and spoke with host David Webb. He addressed the elevator incident: “Well, you know, everything has its ups and downs,” he kidded. “But no, it was no big deal. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to all get to know each other a little better.” Listen to the entire SiriusXM interview with Carson here.
